‘The Ancient World in London’ will become – with your help – a complete directory of all the people, objects and places from the ancient world that you can visit in and around London.
Our directory is crammed full of ancient sites, such as the Roman Amphitheatre relatively recently discovered beneath the Barbican, to the London Wall, and features a wealth of London artefacts from around the ancient world, such as the Rosetta Stone and the Lewis Chessmen. It also includes the incredible characters that helped shape the city’s history. From the legendary rulers of pre-history, to the dashing explorers of the era of exploration, London’s history is full of great personalities, such as the brave and ruthless Boudica, and the Amesbury Archer, who travelled from the Alps to Stonehenge.
But what have we missed – which treasures were left behind? We want to know about any interesting stories, sites or collections from ancient London that you think can teach us about our past, and which should not be overlooked.
Have a look in our directory and tell us what is still missing. We’ll gladly add it, and reward you with 20 shiny points.
