Key Dates

It possibly dates to the 2nd century.

This Roman sculpture is on display at Musee d'Aquitaine. Only part of this sculpture remains. Details of its excavation are sketchy – it was discovered at an unknown location in Bordeaux. It may have been a momument commemorating a victor, but it was more likely used as a funeral monument. It is decorated with a breastplate, two shields and part of another. A toggle (incomplete) is visible in the bottom part.
