Vassil Dobrev

Dr Vassil Dobrev is a French Egyptologist for the French Institute of Archaeology in Cairo. He has worked in the field for over two decades, and made some major claims and discoveries, particularly in the last few years.
Dobrev was the first expert to claim to have evidence that the Great Sphinx may have been the work of the little-known Pharaoh Djedefre, Khafra's half brother and a son of Khufu. His theory is that Djedefre built the Sphinx in the image of his father, Khufu, in a bid to restore faith among the Egyptian people in the ruling dynasty.
In 2003, Dobrev announced the discovery of an Egyptian necropolis filled with a number of 4,000-year-old rock-cut tombs in the south of royal necropolis of Saqqara. It is his belief that they can shed crucial new light on the whereabouts of the tomb of the so-called Lost Pharaoh of the Sixth Dynasty, Userkare. His search for the tomb of Userkare remains ongoing.
