About Me

My interest in cultural heritage mainly revolves around ancient Egypt. I run 'Talking Pyramids', a blog with up-to-date news and information on the pyramids of Egypt. I'm a heavy user of social networks and innovation in the area of digital archaeology. At the moment, for example, I am currently using Twitter in combination with Flickr and YouTube to deliver lessons in ancient Egyptian vocabulary. Inspired by Egyptologist James Allen's paper entitled 'Reading a Pyramid', which concerned the contention amongst Egyptologists over the intended order of the Pyramid Texts, I created the website 'Pyramid Texts Online' to provide a non-linear way of presenting the texts. For the past seven years Pyramid Texts Online has been a well used online resource for scholars studying the Pyramid Texts. Work on a more realistic, three-dimensional version of Pyramid Texts Online is currently underway.
