Timothy Harrison
Professor, Department of Near and ME Civilizations, University of Toronto

Timothy Harrison is a Professor of Archaeology, in the Department of Near and ME Civilizations at the University of Toronto, a post he has held since 2007. His specialisms include complex socieities, urbanism, Bronze and Iron Age civilizations and archaeological method and theory.

He obtained both his M.A, in 1991, and his PhD, in 1995, from the University of Chicago. He lectured, then worked a research associate, at the same institution until 1997, when he moved to the University of Toronto, first as assistant professor, then associate professor, then finally professor.

He oversees two major research projects, at Tell Madaba in Jordan (a settlement dating back to the Neolithic period), and Tayinat in Turkey (where a circa 800 BC Iron Age temple is being excavated). He has authored numerous papers and books.
