Egyptologist & Curator of Petrie Museum
Dr Stephen Quirke is a lecturer of Egyptology at University College London, and curator of the Petrie Museum. Dr Quirke has produced many publications on a wide range of issues relating to Ancient Egypt, and his main areas of interest include: history of the state/institutionalisation; gender; Egyptian language; museology; and ethics in archaeology and anthropology. Dr Quirke is currently co-ordinating the UCL Petrie-based course 'Egyptian Archaeology through the Petrie Museum: An Object-based Theoretical Approach. He recently discussed the phenomenon of invention in the Book of the Dead at this year's Egyptian Colloquium at the British Museum.
