 The Palace dates from the reign of Septimius Severus, circa 193 to 211 AD.

Key People

 The Palace was built for Lucius Septimius Severus, a Roman emperor.

 The enormous Palace of Septimius Severus sits just behind the Circus Maximus, or what now appears to be a shallow field.  Adjacent to the Palace are the famed baths of the emperor.  Together, the Palace and the baths sit atop Palatine Hill, the centremost of the Seven Hills of Rome.
