Sex in the Ancient World – Egyptian Erotica
According to the producers of this documentary film, the sex lives of the ancient Egyptians have been 'hidden from history' for centuries, while some sexual images originating in ancient Egypt continue to be kept out of the public eye and are censored by authorities.
This programme about ancient Egyptian erotica takes a look at many of the aspects of sex in ancient Egypt through explorations of explicit graffiti and hieroglyphics, found on the walls of an ancient limestone tomb near the Valley of the Kings.
The film crew used computer graphics to recreate one of the most famous Egypt erotic hieroglyphs - the Turin Erotic Papyrus, housed in the Museo Egizio in Turin.
The production crew travelled to Luxor, Deir el-Medina and Cairo to film Egypt's fascinating tomb's and temples in order to present the sexual mysteries of the symbols and images within their walls. The film claims to digitally recreate the 'first old men's magazine' and also to reveal what went on between the bedsheets in ancient Egypt.
