The Seven Ages of Britain (TV series)

The Seven Ages of Britain is a seven-part TV series charting the social history of Britain from the Ice Age to the Industrial Revolution, made for Channel 4 in 2003. It is based on the book of the same name by Justin Pollard. The show is presented by well-known popular historian Bettany Hughes.

It explores the ordinary lives and aspirations of British people right from pre-historic cave-dwellers living just after the point when Britain first became an island to modern, multi-cultural urbanites, on the cusp of the 21st century. Normal Britons rarely emerge into the light of history; Pollard's book, and this accompanying series, went some way to changing that.
