Inigo Jones on Stonehenge: Architectural Representation, Memory and Narrative

Inigo Jones on Stonehenge
Architectural Representation, Memory and Narrative
by Caroline van Eck
This is a study of the results of Jones's 1620 visit to Stonehenge. The visit had been brought about by King James I, with Jones preparing descriptions, measurements and drawings, as well as a reconstruction, making it the first monographic study of a building constricted on British soil. This book presents a facsimile of his findings and his speculation that it was a Roman structure.
