Mary Beard is one of the most original and best-known classicists working today. She has a chair of Classics at Cambridge, where she is a Fellow of Newnham College, and she is classics editor of the Times Literary Supplement. Her frequent broadcasts and her Times blog A Don’s Life have brought her a wide audience, like her books, which include Pompeii: The Life of a Roman Town (winner of the 2008 Wolfson History Prize), The Parthenon, and (with Keith Hopkins) The Colosseum and The Roman Triumph. She lives in Cambridge.
