Starting in late January of 2010, Li Hui of Fudan University has been leading the research team to use a DNA test to prove whether a tomb found in China belongs to legendary warlord Cao Cao. The project aims to collect the DNA of 600 people in China with Cao or Xiahou surnames. The DNA will then be compared with the remains of what is believed to be the corpse of Cao Cao.
Li Hui's research interests include the genetic origins of modern people in East Asia. His previous projects includes tracing modern Chinese people's DNA back to African lineages as well as to different ethnic populations in East Asia.
