Aigina Treasure - Large Gold Earring

Estimated between 1850 and1550 BC.

Two pairs of large gold earrings were part of the 'Aigina Treasure'. Within a hoop formed by a two headed snake, you can see two hounds and two monkeys. From the hoop hang pendant disks and owls. Large earrings are often shown in Minoan art, but these are the largest and most elaborate examples actually discovered.
