Behind the scenes at the British Museum

A part of The Lives of Buildings, Open House and English Heritage in the Story of London festival, the British Museum is giving a select number of guests the chance to visit parts of the museum not usually open to the public, such as the Board Room, the Pamela Hartwell Room and the Director's corridor. Visitors can see workings in the underbelly of one of Britain's best loved museums, gaining a valuable insight into its running.

Comments

For anyone unable to make it along to this event, the British Museum publishes a number of books that are not only interesting for visitors to the museum, but also provide an insight into the inner workings of the museum:

Explore the British Museum: A Family Souvenir Guide
The Collections of the British Museum by David M Wilson
The Museum: Behind the Scenes at the British Museum by Rupert Smith
The British Museum A-Z Companion

Some of these are getting a little old, but they still provide some really useful info.
