The Eastern Han Dynasty follows on from the Western, it was established (25 AD - 220 AD) by Emperor Guangwu and was reined over by 12 emperors in a span of 195 years. The most prosperous period of the Eastern Han Dynasty was the middle of the first half. After the reigns of Guangwu, MIng and Zhang its economical, scientific and development surpassed that of the western han dynasty.
In the Later period of the Eastern Han Dynasty most of the emperors were juveniles so the real power was held by distant relatives and eunuchs resulting in darkness and corruption when farmers launched rebellions against their rulers. Characteristics of the Eastern Han Dynasty were their achievements in irrigation, silk making and there was a massive improvement on the previous method of making paper.
