The Writing on the Wall!If you didn't make it to the Illumination of Hadrian's Wall (for instance, because you were attending the AD 410 - Then End of Roman Britain conference at the British Museum) you can (after you've read Sean's and Sam's tweet updates live from the light up of the Wall) still marvel at the sight of the Illumination by browsing the images that are one by one (processing takes time) posted to Flickr.

Here's my preliminary Top 10 of Hadrian's Wall Light Up Flickr Images - in no specific order.

Daily Flickr Finds: Calinore's Kashgar

A young boy peers out of the doorway in the Chinese province of Kashgar, where days of rioting have left the area in a state of fear. The tensions between two ethnic groups have led to the recent violence, with the Uighars campaigning for independence from the Chinese government.

The Chinese Government recently announced plans to demolish a vast majority of this ancient city, in favour of more modern and earthquake proof buildings. This defies the wishes of the Uighari people, who would lose the culture in the old city. Additionally, they believe the Chinese Government has alterior motives for the move.

This image by Calinore captures perfectly the vulnerability and innocence of the whole situation. And certainly is a topic that spares a thought in a growing world, which still manages to become smaller by the day.

Summer Solstice 2009 - Photographs from Stonehenge

Stonehenge Summer Solstice 2009 - Panorama Insided the Stones

Despite my fears I might not make it to Stonehenge in time for the Solstice, I did it! Being one of the 36,500 people accessing the Stones on the night from Saturday to Sunday was surely an experience I won't easily forget, and near to utterly amazing ******* awesome.
