Ancient World in London Adventurers Contest Decided!
Be excited: our Ancient World in London series is under way! The last few days have seen us wheeling around the city shooting some of the city's best ancient landmarks, and working away at HK HQ creating quests, competitions and an exciting new homepage for everyone to get stuck into over the next three months. But who would lead our video adventure in and around the capital?
For us there was only one answer: the web. Instead of going down the usual recruitment site route, we'd create a video getting people up for the cause, then select our presenters from those who could create the best video responses. If we're creating an interactive web event, why not start at the very beginning?
facethemusicanddie: Was going to apply for this but then saw that they extended the deadline which means that none of the people who made the first deadline were any good. So, since I don't think I can match up to the first lot of guys I guess I don't have a snowballs chance in hell. Good luck to everyone who actually has a shot, bad luck to the other poor losers who were clearly not good enough BETTER LUCK NEXT TIME!
How wrong you were, erm, FTMAD...some videos were mini-epics, others over in the blink of an eye: all were considered equally on merit. And now I can exclusively reveal to you that our winners are (drum-roll please) -
Jamie Hobbis
A cameraman eager to get in front of the lens. Surely no-one can deny his video was great - funny, clever, wordsy...a real adventurer-in-waiting.
Nicole Favish
A broadcast journalism grad who was a dab hand at exploring her back garden. The fact she can conquer her fear of snow, and has no problems getting up close to such a fearsome creature as 'Tuffy' clinched the deal for us.
Natalie Foster
A talented actress who wanted to get to know her home town much better. Natalie really embodies the curiosity in all of us - what's the history beneath our feet?
Yes, we know there are three of them - but we decided our adventure was too big for two intrepid explorers: trust me, there's no shortage of history in this city. And as you'll find out in each and every excellent video, most of it is right before our eyes. Well done to all our internet explorers: you did a grand job. But it's far from the end. Each week we'll have quests, competitions and fantastic prizes on offer for everyone involved in our project. It's going to be a great three months - make sure you unlock the wonders with us.
