Week 1: Ancient World Spotted Photo Contest

The London Wall

Photographers - get your cameras at the ready and prepare to win points in week one of our photography competition 'Ancient World Spotted Photo Contest'.

There is so much to learn about and see in London, both inside museums and at sites scattered across the city. Through these photo contests we are inviting Londoners and tourists from around the world - as well as the online community - to join in the action. Places that may look like nothing but ruins could actually be our links back to moments in time that have shaped our world and lives today. You probably pass by many ruins in your day to day life in the city, historical pieces that became part of your daily life. Now is the time to give them a good look, and share what you see with the rest of us.

Dates: Monday February 8, 2010 Monday until midnight on Extended * March 1 Sunday midnight 2010.*

Total Points: 10 points per photo sent - and you can send as many as you like.

Prize:  Win Ancient History Books from Thames & Hudson

How to Play:

  • Spot an artefact or an ancient site in or around London
  • Take a photo of it
  • Tweet your photo using the hashtag #heritagekey, and the word 'spotted' in the text, or simply tag it with 'spotted' and upload it to our Flickr group
  • Make sure you have the basic information about the lucky artefact or ancient site in London in either the title or description.

During the competition we will choose some of the photos and share them with our fans on our Facebook page.
