[Foolish Frost walks up to the podium, the pyramids dotting the horizon behind him.]
Foolish Frost: “Is this thing on?”
[Foolish taps the microphone several times until an aid moves his hand and tells him, that yes, it is indeed on, and very loud...]
Foolish Frost: “Ah yes, thank you. As you all know, we have made a monumental discovery not only here in the pyramids, but also in a dozen other places across the earth. In fact, we have proof that as far back as several thousand years ago, there was some kind of communication that linked much of what could be considered civilization for that era.”
[The crowd of reporters and scientists begin calling out questions, Foolish Frost waves as if to quiet them, with little success. His aid leans over toward the microphone, and turns a small dial before speaking.]
Aid: “SHADDUP, YOU BUNCH OF WALL_MOUTHED LUNITICS!”
[As people stare in stunned silence, including Mr. Frost, his aid nods once, dials back down the volume, and moves out of the way]
Foolish Frost: “As... As you may or may not know, some peculiar runic symbols were found in rooms of the pyramid directly behind me, a pyramid long before thought to have no actual rooms or function. What's more... Jon... what IS that noise, is my microphone acting up...”
[Everyone in the audience begins pointing up and as the pyramid, as what looks like an odd aircraft seems to veer into it, and seems prepared to crash. Instead, it seems to flip around and reaches out with a wing, now looking more like an arm, to grab the tip and land on it with extremities that quickly take on the appearance of legs.]
Foolish Frost: “Oh, now, that really can't be good for the stonework up there. I mean, seriously, someone should tell him to get down from there.”
[With a roar that carries to the crowd from the summit, the mechanical creature begins firing odd weapons at something hidden by the bulk of the pyramid]
Foolish Frost; “I say! Security! This is HIGHLY disruptive... Jon, I... Jon? Where is everyone GOING? And what are we paying security for if they can't even handle a single robotic war-machine?”
[A blast removes the top of the pyramid in a spray of stone shards and sends a robot spinning through the air, right before the signal goes to static, Foolish is heard]
Foolish Frost: “Oh my. That can't be goo...”

Movie Review: Transformers 2, ROTF
Of all the summer movies, Transformers 2 is probably one of the most touted to geekdom this year. Reviews of this movie both praise it and revile it, sometimes in the same paragraph. I have but one thing to say in this review to anyone listening:
If you are a transformers fan, enjoy giant robots, explosions, and the sounds of metal being torn asunder: This is everything you wanted. Dozens of robots, combat and chases through the entire movie, insider jokes, and heroic sacrifices that have those same heroes coming back from the dead before the story is over.
To everyone else: This movie's not FOR you. Stop complaining. It's based on a cartoon from the 80s made to sell TOYS to KIDS, fer crying-out-loud! What did you expect? Titanic? Lord of the Rings? Philadelphia? Shoo! Go watch something educational.
Sorry. Got carried away there.
From here on out, there may be spoilers. I'm not going to try too hard to avoid them, and you've been warned, so don't whine about it if you find something out you wanted to see in the movie.
The movie starts out showing that transformers have been here for thousands of years, and that some never left. Quickly switching to the now, it ramps up a battle that gets more and more out of control, until finally ending with the primary plot being giving up by a minor villain: The Fallen.
From here, the movie calms back down, just to suddenly ramp back up in excitement before calming down again, just to send you back into another cascade of battle and destruction. In fact, the movie is pretty much a rollercoaster, the excitement level climbing and diving without mercy or restraint.
It was beautiful.
At no point do you have time to question the plot, character motivations, or even the idea of giant robots tearing apart everything unlucky enough to get to close. You never blink as more and more incredible robots appear without more than a token introduction and destroy scenery as if offended by it. You just hold on and ride for all your worth, gleefully happy for every inside joke and historical reference you catch.
References include: Sam Witwicky having information stored in his head about the transformers and their technology (from the original Transformers comic), The Autobot twins (seemingly from the Junkticons in the cartoon movie), Devastator (from the G1 cartoon), The Matrix of Leadership being planted in Prime's chest (referees to the cartoon movie as well), even a Pretender (if you don't recognise this, I'm not explaining it. Gives too much away). More abound, and I wish you luck finding them. I doubt I caught them all myself.
As to the actual plot, as is normal for this kind of movie, it's under-explained and over-discussed. While it can be said that plotlines are a luxury in a movie about giant robots, it's not as if it was any worse than 90% of the action movies ever shown. The comedy breaks up the spikes of action nicely, filling in the spots between explosions and allowing a welcome respite, while not actually stopping it's forward motion.
I don't believe in rating by 1-10 scale, but I can say it's better then Xmen: Wolverine, and not as good at the new Star-Trek. Your mileage may vary, but what do you expect with a truck as big as Optimus Prime?
Then again, What do I know? I'm just a Fool.
Foolish Frost

I agree with you on your say as transformers were made in the 80s as toys for kids but would you take your 8 year old to see this movie? From the trailers, I didn't think so.I can only assume that they target big geeky kids to buy toys for their little geeky kids.
The first one seemed a lot of mindless action to me, and this one doesn't seem any better.. looks like I'll be passing on this!
Well, my take is this: It's a war movie and people die. It has 'romantic' parts. Nothing graphic in either, so it comes down to this: If the children seeing it can slide past the idea of secondary characters dying and some kissing, they can see it.
Still it's going to come down to if they like giant robots and huge explosions.
